Hi, how are you?

I'm a & occasional . A , , civil & digital rights advocate, , pro-.

I make , , & generally . I used to collaborate with musicians such as Daevid Allen & Gilli Smyth of Gong & writers such as Michael Moorcock. Interesting times. Nowadays I'm a semi-hermit living with my partner & son in an old farmhouse next to a world-heritage rainforest.

Re-Joyce! (Or is that Finn-again?) It's ! Introibo ad altare Joyce!

Just finished helping a friend send off masters & artwork for CD replication. Is it my imagination or are CMYK artwork & DDP CD master formats purely an excuse to sell massively overpriced software like Adobe suite and Wavelab Pro etc? I mean, I could personally do it all using on , but on Windows and Mac, producing print-ready files to release is a frikkin nightmare.

FFS!! Now (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) gets in on the act of requiring an account to view "free" content - which of course it's sharing with Friendface and who the feck knows who else. Of course they say the usual "your privacy is important to us, we won't share it" etc blah. Yeah, right. Man, this pisses me off. Well, I guess it's back to bittorrent for my media consumption.

Very sad to hear of the early death of Benoît - while the first two games we hardly the pinnacle of puzzle & plot design - they were a masterclass in creating idiosyncratic & surreal atmosphere with incredible artwork. Not to forget Kate Walker - a strong, intellectual female protagonist - which was very much a rarity at the time.

It's been a John documentary viewing night hereabouts, with a desert of & I. By any standard, a superior quality televisual feast.

That's one impressive at the moment. Wishing I'd timed things so a certain Pink Floyd album came to its final song right about now.

Hippy Bathday too yooo !!! I was on identi.ca early on - no idea exactly when I joined - then diaspora* - then . When the latter came along everything seemed to rapidly proliferate. What an incredibly vibrant open ecosystem the has become! I look forward to seeing what happens over the next thirteen years. Cheers particularly to all the people who made it happen!

Bloody hell! Why did I never hear about Sita Sings the Blues before? Wonderful ! Perhaps it flew by my notice & I only became receptive after having spent extended time in several years ago, when I fell in love with the country, culture & people. Fantastic to see the creator / animator @nina is on the & such an advocate of a & . Just finished watching with my 3yo son & his grandmother - who were both were equally entranced...

The tower-building at Hanging Rock Falls have been at it again over the last few days.

Last three days: almost but not quite fully coming down with the lurgey that my son brought home from the neighbours' kids. Feel crap enough to moan about it, but not crap enough to retreat to bed and elicit sympathy.

I was going to try to be all etymologically clever and suggest the idea of replacing the word with triptocurrency, which sounds all acid & psychedelic & amusing, but since trip probably hails from the Old English træppe meaning trap, turns out it's just accurate. Harumph.

1. It is ethically right to financially (or otherwise) support , & . It helps society. Art is emancipatory.
2. Money & finance, in the traditional sense of , is wrong. It harms society, the primary goal of which is to control.
3. How (or is it even necessary) to reconcile this cognitive dissonance?

Wondering if anyone has suggestions for alternatives to supporting via ? To clarify, I've no problem with BC itself - they're pretty good in terms of supporting indie - but really don't want to use . I like , but not relevant for album purchases. Crypto out (environmental issues) except maybe ? My desire to self-run an e-commerce site nowadays is nil. You could rightly say that and are mutually exclusive, but still...

Australian #politics, #Auspol, language

I'm getting really sick of various shitheads in the government ramping up rhetoric against - to quote Zhao Lijian (Chinese Foreign Ministry) - "Some individual politicians in Australia, out of their selfish interests, are keen to make statements that incite confrontation and hype up threat of , which is extremely irresponsible. These people are the real troublemakers." Abso-fucking-lutely. towing the US line as usual.

@opensourcegardens What an inspiring project! This is exactly the sort of thing that the community where I live would love to be involved in. It's a shame we're in Australia - otherwise I'd be ordering some right away. Do you know of any groups outside Europe?

Since I've refreshed the server I guess it's finally time to do a proper introduction post, since I never really did one way back when I first joined identi.ca, or for that matter mastodon.social. Hmmmm....

Apologies to anyone who has been bombarded multiple times with follows requests, or whatever might have happened, while I was tearing the server apart and putting it back together again!

Well, it turns out that nuking the site from orbit was the only way to be sure. Rather than a long tinkering session to hopefully diagnose federation issues, I've decided to just setup a server on a new domain. A change is as good as a whatever it is....
